There are few industries as innovative as the food sector, and few facing quite so many challenges.

Global political turmoil, a growing population, and the climate crisis are once again pushing the food industry to adapt.

In this episode of the Food Matters Live podcast, recorded in front of a live audience during our Sustainable Food Forum event in London in September 2023, we shine a light on the people leading that adaptation.

Mariano Oto, CEO, Nucaps Nanotechnology

Mariano has a Bachelor Degree in Economics and Business Sciences from the University of Navarra. He has more than 20 years’ of experience in management and direction of companies in different sectors.

Since 2017 he is CEO and Co-founder of NUCAPS, an international biotechnology company that designs and manufactures NextGen functional ingredients: bioactives and probiotics microencapsulated in natural proteins.

David Erlandsson, Co-Founder, Aliga Microalgae

David is the co-founder of Aliga Microalgae, a Danish based food-tech company specializing in cultivating, producing and commercializing vegan, plant-based and protein-rich food, feed and dietary supplement ingredients from Chlorella algae.

They have developed and patented a white Chlorella ingredient with neutral taste and flavour making it applicable in a broad variety of formulations, from analogue seafood and meat products to savoury, bakery and diary products.

Matthieu Hug, CEO, Tilkal

Matthieu Hug is co-founder and CEO of Tilkal, an end-to-end traceability and transparency platform for supply chains. A serial entrepreneur with a passion for digital technologies, Matthieu sits on the board of several innovative start-ups, as well as the ALCCI (association for the fight against illicit trade).

Between 2007 and 2016, Matthieu co-founded and managed RunMyProcess, a B2B cloud platform acquired in 2013 by the Fujitsu group. Prior to that, he held several operational and consulting positions in digital technologies. Matthieu is a CentraleSupélec engineer and holds a Master of Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
