Dr Tom Simmons is the CEO and founder of The Supplant Company, a VC-backed food and agri-tech company that uses cutting-edge science to deliver an entirely new category of healthy, planet-friendly bulk ingredients. The company’s first product enables sugar reduction in mainstream food products for the very first time. Dr Simmons completed his PhD in Molecular Plant Science at the University of Edinburgh in 2013, before undertaking post-doctoral research in advanced plant science at the University of Cambridge. Dr Simmons is a member of the Global Futures Council for Sustainable Development at the World Economic Forum and has held prestigious research fellowships at Cambridge University as well as with the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
