Dr Golm studied Psychology at the University of Göttingen, Germany and completed his PhD in the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at the University of Göttingen under the supervision of Professor Birgit Kröner-Herwig. He then joined the English and Romanian Adoptees Study team as a post-doc and worked with Professor Edmund Sonuga-Barke at the University of Southampton and later at King’s College London. He re-joined the University of Southampton as a Lecturer in Psychology in 2018. Since January 2023, Dr Golm is Editor-in-Chief of Adoption & Fostering.
His research interests include the interplay between risk and protective factors on the development of mental health problems. As part of this, he is interested in the roles nutrition, gastrointestinal symptoms and the gut microbiome play in mental health.
