Vimal Karani
Professor in Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics

Vimal Karani is Professor in Nutrigenetics & Nutrigenomics at the University of Reading. He is Scientific Advisory Board member of the Scottish Government, Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture and the Deputy Director of Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health. He joined the University of Reading after his post-doctoral training at the MRC Epidemiology unit and senior research fellowship at the University College London. Vimal has published extensively in areas related to nutrigenetics and non-communicable diseases. He won the UK Nutrition Society’s Silver Medal award in 2020 for his contribution to the world of global nutrition and won the UK Malaysia Education Institutional Partnership Award 2023 for delivering a significant impact at the regional level and for showing significant value-creation to the education sector in Malaysia and the UK.
