David Knibbs, is the founder and CEO of The Tofoo Co.  His journey into plant-based started in 2015, when David decided to harness his wealth and breadth of experience as a commercially driven business leader and, together with his wife, Lydia Smith, bought a small artisan tofu business in North Yorkshire. They had always envisioned running their own company and were passionate about finding something unique in the food industry that they could grow into a household staple. In 10 years, David has driven the business from a turnover of £600k to over £26 million.   The business has just acquired Topas GMBH in Germany to help further build the business in Europe – this will take combined sales to nearly £40m.

With the growth in meat-free slowing, David is passionate for brands to unite and to re-ignite category growth in partnership with the retailers.  

David has over 30 years of experience in both FMCG and renewable businesses, managing both local and international markets.
