Dr Alison Tedstone is Public Health England’s (PHE) Chief Nutritionist and leads expert nutrition programmes including the National Diet and Nutrition Survey, composition of foods, scientific advice, and actions to improve diet. Her team coordinates, across PHE, work aimed at tackling the nation’s obesity problem nationally and locally.
Alison works closely with the Department of Health on obesity policy. She contributed to the development and delivery of the government’s Childhood Obesity Plans.
Over the years Alison has contributed to UK actions on improving diet including the salt reformulation programme, front of pack labelling, controls on TV advertising and numerous expert reports on, for example, folic acid, salt, carbohydrates, iron and vitamin D.
She is registered public health nutritionist and has a fellowship from the Association for Nutrition. She has honorary fellowships from the Nutrition Society and Royal Colleges of Physicians and Paediatrics.
