Farmy is an online marketplace for regional and organic groceries with over six thousand products from more than six hundred producers. Its aim is to digitalise supermarkets. The Swiss-based start-up grew by 170% in 2020 and seeks investment to foster its core business in Switzerland and to establish Farmy’s solutions internationally.
Founder Tobias Schubert describes Farmy as a sustainable, tech company that sells food all over the country. The e-commerce platform allows consumers to select their groceries directly from the producer and aims to offer a more transparent supply chain. The start-up focuses on high quality standards, minimal food waste, recycling, and Fairtrade, with the majority of its products being sourced in Switzerland. Soon to receive a B-Corps certification, the model will sit within a recognised sustainable framework.
The team have big plans ahead plans ahead for Farmy including expansion in delivery and automation. They plan to adopt a two hour delivery scheme to address 80% of the Swiss population and hope to cooperate with leading industry engineers to develop the automation of the fulfillment including scallog robots. Farmy will also begin to offer ready-to-eat food such as its own fresh bread.
