The Future Ingredients Competition
The Food Matters Live first ever Future Ingredients Competition has been designed to recognise the innovation in the ingredient sector and celebrate ingredients that are truly distinctive and ground-breaking.
The competition recognises outstanding new ingredients that support innovation across the global food and nutrition sectors, that can make a significant impact on mainstreaming nutritious, sustainable and healthy diets.
Entry to the Future Ingredients 2021 Competition is now closed and the shortlist, along with the winner, have now been announced below.

X-TRA Guard – Millbo Srl
Extracted from the Rowan Berry, X-TRA Guard by Millbo Srl Italian is a natural preservative created to replace the use of chemical preservative Sorbic Acid.
X-TRA Guard is fully derived from Rowanberry’s natural botanical compounds. The extraction of the preservative has been developed with precision to keep all the properties of the Rowan Berry.
X-TRA Guard contains natural sorbic acid and can be used in a variety of consumer goods, including carbonated low sugar drinks and sandwich fillers.
Millbo Srl is an Italian company based in Piedmont that specialises in innovative and natural baking solutions. Established 40 years ago, Millbo Srl is E-free and prides itself on the quality of its products, raw materials, and ingredient production.
