Athena, goddess of greek mythology

Welcome and thank you for joining me this weekend.

This week I’ve been thinking about truths and myths.

These days we are saturated with information, often, to be precise, misinformation. It can be difficult to see the truth from the myth, or simply, the lie.
Social media (who else?) of course, has a lot to answer for. With all these doctors and professors who received their qualifications from the University of Facebook, spewing anything that suits them, it’s fair to say in this day and age we need to dig deep to make some sense of things. And the truth of course, is not always just one truth.

This week, author, philosopher, journalist and Academic Director of The Royal Institute of Philosophy, Julian Baggini delves into The truths and myths of red meat. Is all red meat bad for us, or perhaps we shouldn’t bundle up mass produced commercial bacon with Parma ham?

Author Carol Wilson takes a peek into our cupboards in her article Are you buying the real thing? Fake foods and how to identify them. Even food isn’t immune to fake news…

Aren’t delivery apps great? At the click of an apps we could have everything delivered, but what’s behind this new craze? We take a deeper look in Grocery delivery apps: the psychology and costs of super fast dispatch.

And last, but certainly not least, alas gender bias is no myth. But women founders in the alternative protein sector are speaking up and sharing their truth, calling for an end to discrimination.

One last word from me: if @doctorknowitall on Twitter cantankerously claims to know more than you do, rest assured that their certificate from the University of Facebook is not a real PhD.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

Stef
