Vitamins are manufactured in a multitude of forms for a range of purposes, from liquids, to powders, to gels and serums. But the question is, what benefits the body the most? Whether its oral consumption, or transdermal use, vitamin applications have been widely debated in the health food and drinks sector. A common conversation in this space is the absorption of powders versus liquids. We explore this topic with BART ingredients, who will be sharing more about their Liposovit®-C powder vitamin, at Food Matters Live this November.

What are the benefits of liquid vs powder vitamins?

Absorption rates

Liquid vitamin C is known for its higher absorption rates. Vitamins in liquid form are already flowing free of any binding agents, meaning they can work into the system from the moment they are taken orally. In contrast, powder forms may take longer to absorb, due to the membranes they encounter that are resistant to larger solids, according to a study in animals.

Ease of use

For consumption purposes, vitamin C powder forms often need to be stirred or dissolved into water or other liquids. Many times, the mixing of vitamin C powder forms in liquids can result in a thick and gritty substance, which isn’t pleasant to consume. On the other hand, liquid vitamin C forms rapidly disperse through liquid of any temperature, alleviating a minor yet aggravating stressor.

Taste

The microscopic solids that make up vitamin C powder forms have a more varied chemical structure when compared to liquids and so they give our tongues more information to analyse and taste. This means that liquid forms of vitamin C are more neutral when it comes to taste and any lingering aftertaste.

But, powder vitamins have their benefits:

As one of the few on the market, BART offer powder liposomal vitamin C in powder form too, and according to BART ingredients it can:

  • Allow for various forms of product application
  • No need for refrigerated storage
  • Greater bioavailability
  • Better absorbability
  • Increased stability
  • Targeted transport

What could further support liquid vitamins?

When it comes to absorption rates, faster dissolution available in liquid vitamins, is not necessarily always better. However, supplements developed with synergistically interacting ingredients are more effectively absorbed, as the micronutrients complement each other in their transit and absorption through the digestive system.

An example of this is BART’s newly developed Liposovit®-C, which brings new, high-quality technology developed to break the body’s absorption barriers. As one of our Ingredient Innovators, Food Matters Live spoke with BART who revealed some unique insights.

With their new Liposovit®-C, a liposomal vitamin C, this product has been developed to break the body’s absorption barriers more than standard Vitamin C products. BART will be talking about their new Liposovit®-C ingredient at your Food Matters Live Event this November, and thus delve into exactly what their new ingredient development is, during the Ingredient Discovery Spotlight session that they are leading. Register your ticket to join, as they explore why and how Liposovit®-C™ has a ground-breaking performance, posing unique benefits to the human body.
