Judith Murdoch, will explain the subtle but important differences between the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and its UK counterpart, the UK Forest Risk Commodity Regulation (UKFRC). She will advise what you need to do if the legislation applies to your business.

She will describe how fats and oils from AAK will fully comply with both sets of legislation, and how AAK sites in the UK can help prove compliance with EU legislation. This is despite the UK not being part of the EU and therefore not being part of the EU IT system for compliance.

Lastly, Judith will talk about the challenges of meeting Scope 3 targets in the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), and the tools that AAK has developed to make reductions in the carbon footprint of everyday food.

In this session Dr Phil Stroud will lead a discussion regarding the use of natural anti-microbial products to help manage microbial spoilage in food and beverages. After an introduction to the topic the session will move onto specific microbial challenges experienced by the group, the use of organic acids as potential solutions and the background science associated with their use. Following this, and after a brief introduction to Millbio, Phil will share details of the natural anti-microbial solutions currently available from Millbio and the group will discuss & explore in which end products such clean label solutions can be of most benefit, along with how best to apply them.
