Welcome and thank you for joining me this weekend.

Sustainability and security are words on everyone’s lips at the moment. This is no surprise as the need to cut the global carbon footprint, establish a solid supply chain and ensure everyone is fed is more urgent than ever.
The good news is that, among the worrying headlines, there are many positive changes happening.

In this week’s feature we look at How EU member countries are tackling food sustainability and security with legislations and initiatives at national and local level, and what they have achieved.

From the colour and sound of packaging, to the colour and smell of products and the plates we eat them from, the food and drink industry invests large amounts of money and time in perfecting the consumers’ experience of eating and drinking. Food scientist Kezia Cruz and Senior scientist, Department Experimental Psychology, Utrecht University Dr G.B. (Garmt) Dijksterhuis join the Food Matters Live podcast to discuss Mind over matter? The role of sensory science in our eating experience.

British people are well-known for being large consumers of alcoholic drinks, but is a shift happening? Find out in The UK’s changing attitude towards alcohol-free drinks.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

Stef
