Welcome and thank you for joining me this weekend.

Are we on the brink of a shift in the food system? With new technologies moving at the speed of light, more and more people asking for a change in agricultural practices and for better food distribution, the system, as we know it, could look very different 20 years from now, maybe even sooner.

Many new advances in tech promise to tackle sustainability and food shortages, as well as human health and animal welfare issues, but are they truly a step forward from our current agricultural system? In this week’s feature, we look at new innovation. Read all about it in Everything you need to know about precision fermentation.

The new Gene Editing Bill, which became law in England last March, has certainly split opinions, but what does it actually mean for food production? Find out in Interview: Defra’s Chief Scientific Adviser Gideon Henderson on gene-edited crops.

Jonathon Porritt has worked tirelessly for decades to promote ecology and sustainability. In this candid interview “It’s sickening, it’s unbelievable” – Jonathon Porritt fires shots, the environmentalist and writer tells Food Matters Live what he really thinks of the Government’s environmental agenda, activists such as a Just Oil, and…Elon Musk.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

Stef
