Forward Fooding, a foodtech consulting firm and partner of Food Tech Matters, is inviting applications for its third edition of ‘FoodTech 500’, an initiative inspired by the Fortune 500.

FoodTech 500 is a competition designed to attract entrepreneurs at the intersection of food, technology and sustainability for a chance to be featured amongst a listed ranking. Applications are open for promising agri-foodtech start-ups from around the world who are making an impact on the system. Start-ups will be reviewed on their business size, digital footprint and sustainable practices.

Successful start-ups will be featured amongst the FoodTech 500 ranking and gain access to a global network of industry stakeholders including Fortune 500 companies, investors and advisors.

For the 2020 edition, Forward Fooding received over 2,000 applications from 63 countries. Some of the 2020 FoodTech 500 winners include Plenty, a hydroponic vertical farm powered by AI which has raised $500M in venture funds; Too Good To Go, a marketplace that eliminates food waste by helping retailers sell their surplus food; and NotCo, a company using biotechnology to create plant-based products.

CEO of Forward Fooding, Alessio D’Antino said: “We created the FoodTech 500 to shine a light on the leading global innovators across AgriFoodTech, those who are creating powerful solutions to heal and transform our food system. We are thrilled to launch the 2021 edition of The FoodTech 500 to reveal the companies that will become global mainstays.”

Applications close on 15 November and the winners will be announced in March 2022. Start-ups can submit their application here.
