Food Matters Live is pleased to announce the launch of a series of live events focussed on inspiring careers in the food and drinks industry. The live career event series will bring together graduates and the F&B industry.

Tailored to meet the needs of engineering, food science and nutrition students from universities across the UK, the events will take place in various regions, starting with London and Birmingham.

Students will be able to meet with industry recruiters, join soft skills workshops and be part of live recordings of the award-nominated Career Conversations podcast, featuring inspiring interviews with a diverse group of experts from development chefs and flavourists to founders and researchers.

The event will be a great opportunity for students to network with graduates and industry leaders and learn essential skills that will help shape their future.

Each event will see a bespoke audience from more than 20 universities across the region, managed through a careful invitation process in partnership with the institutions. The programme will feature talks from industry recruiters along with guidance around applying for jobs, interview techniques and workplace essentials.

Notable brands from previous Food Matters Live career events include Sainsbury’s, Kellogg’s, Compass Group, Coca Cola, Quorn, Jamie Oliver, Nomad Foods and more.

The first event will take place at the Coin Street Conference Centre in central London.

What to expect

There will be four main elements for the full-day event, with a wide variety of experts and graduates from across the industry. Attendees can expect:

  • The Good Grad Guide: a series of panel discussions focussing on key insights and advice on finding the best routes to enter the food industry. Talks cover everything from CV writing to supercharging your networking and interviewing skills.
  • Meet the recruiters: hear from industry recruiters about what they’re looking for in new employees, the opportunities within their business for graduates and how applicants can make themselves stand out.
  • Grad Scheme Panels: meet recent graduates in the early stages of developing their career in the food industry. What has been their experience of grad schemes? What have they learned along the way?
  • Live Podcast recordings: join our host Elisa Roche, a chef, food stylist and journalist, for a live recording of Career Conversations exploring the surprisingly varied roles within the food industry that go way beyond the kitchen.
