Sweden Foodtech’s Big Meet event will return for its 8th year in June.

New additions this year will include what Sweden Foodtech describes as the “world’s largest” test kitchen, which will explore existing solutions and also look at what is coming down the innovation line.

It says the Big Meet event is about looking at the “next generation food system for the next generation of people”, and it will feature the “best foodtech companies, entrepreneurs, scientists and athletes” from around the world. It also said it will keep pushing to deliver an event that goes “far from the usual conference suspects and the usual conference format”.

“This year’s Big Meet will be the 8th edition – we must be doing something right!” said Johan Jörgensen, Founder and Partner of Sweden Foodtech. “I guess the secret sauce is an awesome mix of scientists, entrepreneurs, investors, chefs, policymakers, big food and activists. Plus the single-minded approach to blow everyone’s mind with where food is going.

“We need to realise that food has its biggest value outside the plate, in the effects of food. Once you see that, you realise that the future of food will be built by a long range of new players coming together, data companies, construction giants, city planners, health professionals, policymakers and more.

“Food is the underlying force behind virtually every process in society, so we all need to put on the lens of food. And when you do that you see new things. I think we have been and continue to be really good at lifting peoples strategic understanding of food. Those insights are invaluable to anyone wanting to be a part of the next generation food system. So, you should come…”

The event will start on the evening of the 31st May with a “mingle and matchmaking” session, before the “unconference” begins and the test kitchen opens.

Around 500 guests are expected to attend, with a roster of 50 speakers.
