The food industry is striving to spread awareness of the variety of rewarding roles available and the industry’s need to fill them. The wide range of jobs and careers available in our sector can often be overseen or misunderstood as being only related to hospitality or manufacturing.
For example, careers in areas such as business & marketing, social sciences or packaging & design may not be the first thing that springs to mind when the food industry is mentioned. However, they all have key roles to play in our £120bn industry.
To tackle the food industry’s image problem, we need to attract and inspire the next generation of aspiring young talent. It’s vital that food and drink companies unite with academia to ensure universities produce the right candidates with the skills and knowledge to feed the industry.

Uniting this November
Over 1000 students and graduates will be coming together this November to experience three days of educational, curated sessions around careers in the food industry and network with the food and drink companies attending.
A diverse group of companies and universities are coming together this November at Food Matters Careers Week, to inspire the student and graduate community attending to make food their future.
